Arrow Preparatory Academy

Grades: 4th–9th
Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Head Tutor: LoriAnn Carroll

Arrow Preparatory Academy (Arrow Prep) is a unique 2-day-a-week microschool, offering students a blend of group learning and independent study.

With the guidance of our Head Tutor, LoriAnn Carroll, students engage in hands-on, shared learning in subjects such as Science, Math, Physical Fitness, Home Economics, Life Skills, Nature Study, and Independent Studies. There is also dedicated time for students to bring and work on their own curriculum during the day.

Arrow Prep provides a supportive, flexible learning environment that encourages academic growth, life skills, and personal responsibility—while allowing families the freedom to customize their child’s education.

*One unique element of Arrow Prep is that some of our students are dual-enrolled with OpenEd.  Student's participation in this program includes specific guidelines for tracking educational expenses and services and allows for reimbursement of qualifying, non-religious edcuational expenses.  The OpenEd program is new to Kansas this school year and our team is eager to explore this opportunity.

Students choose courses that align with their goals—whether through in-person classes, online learning, or dual-credit options. While in-person attendance is not required, students may gather at various times and locations for collaboration and independent study, creating a flexible and engaging high school experience.

LoriAnn Carroll

LoriAnn loves working with kids — their wonder, honesty, and energy inspire her. She enjoys creating safe, joyful spaces where children feel seen, valued, and loved. With patience and a heart rooted in biblical wisdom, she aims to be a steady presence amid their beautifully messy emotions.

Homeschooled for her entire school career, LoriAnn values the creativity, independence, and flexibility that home education offers. This background shapes her approach with children — nurturing curiosity, encouraging questions, and honoring each child’s unique learning style. She’s passionate about homeschooling and supporting families on that journey.

Though not professionally trained, LoriAnn has been an aunt since age five — now to 18 nieces and nephews. Her years of hands-on experience include babysitting all ages, teaching 2-3 year old Sunday school with structured lessons and music, and volunteering in VBS and church day camps.

Jan Rich

Jan has a degree in secondary education and is a practicing Physical Therapist. She and her husband began homeschooling their three children 13 years ago out of a desire to integrate the Christian faith into every area of education. She joined Dalena, Devan and Larissa in their area homeschool coop as a science teacher 7 years ago. She loves instructing students and helping them understand more advanced scientific concepts.

As her children progressed through high school and began looking toward college, her desire for like minded educational partners led her to investigate Christian Halls International. She was impressed by their commitment to high academic standards in a context of Christian faithfulness. In particular, she wished to create an opportunity for area homeschooled students to complete dual enrollment classes from a Christian worldview. The emphasis on in person tutorials sets Christian Halls apart from other online options and was a primary motivator in the establishment of the Hutchinson Area Preparatory Academy. She currently serves as a co-director for the program.

Sarah Keller

Sarah Keller is a dedicated mother of three and a passionate educator with over 12 years of homeschooling experience. She challenges her kids academically and encourages them to explore their passions—whether that’s painting in the backyard, building with Legos, or reading under a cozy blanket. In addition to teaching her own children, she has taught 4th–6th grade at a hybrid school and also served as a middle and high school teacher at a Christian school teaching English and government.  She has also taught multiple classes in a homeschool co-op setting.

Sarah has also volunteered her time in various church ministries over the years, including children and youth ministries, and served alongside her husband ministering to multiple ages when he served as a pastor.

Rooted in faith and a love for learning, Sarah brings warmth, clarity, and intention to everything she does—both at home and in the classroom.
